Average temperatures and rainfall for South Africa: Cape Town and the Western Province have a Mediterranean type of climate with mild, changeable winters, during which most of the annual rainfall occurs, and a warm to hot, sunny summer. As you head Eastwards of Cape Town some rain occurs in most months but temperature conditions are similar. On the coast of KwaZulu-Natal and the lowlands below the Great Escarpment up to the border with Mozambique, the climate is subtropical; winters are milder and warm, rainfall is highest during summer.
