South Africa, of the more than 800 bird species, 26 are threatened, including the jackass penguin, Cape vulture, martial eagle, bateleur and Cape parrot. The 5 endangered species are the wattled crane, roseate tern, Egyptian vulture, blackrumped buttonquail and blue swallow. Wherever you go in South Africa you will experience incredible birdlife, but for the serious birders we have a selection of tours below.

Uganda is one of the richest countries in Africa for birds. It has a great diversity of wetland, savannah and forest birds, including 29 of the 43 Albertine rift endemics. A record of 1005 bird species has not been challenged.
