Murchison Falls fishing trips
Sport fishing at Murchison Falls National Park is currently done in the area at the base of the Falls. The fishing is either from the rocks on the bank of the river or slightly lower down stream in the pools from a boat.

Fish caught on live bait / casting lures include Nile perch and various species of catfish. There are also a large variety of smaller species, (used as live bait), obtained by spinning, including tiger fish.

There are several lodges available for accommodation in the park. Sambiya River lodge is the most often used - due to its close proximity to the falls area – about 20 minutes drive. It is set in the forest a short distance away from the river and has stone chalets with en suite facilities with water heated by solar. Sambiya Lodge has a central lounge, dining and bar area. There is also a swimming pool. The grassed area near to the lodge is partly flood lit at night and often animals will wander past. Meals are wholesome and tasty. Packed meals are often prepared for full day fishing excursions to the river.

Fishing guides
Prices are based upon local Ugandan guides being used for the trips. They are experienced and knowledgeable as well as being able to communicate well in English. In addition, other experts are available for leading tours. For example Paul Goldring who resides in Uganda and is well experienced with tour leading and also fishing in the Ssese area, is available at an additional daily cost. It is recommended that Paul be utilised with any large groups of fishermen, and VIP clients.
